Engineering Manager

Vanta is growing quickly, we're profitable, and we're quickly outpacing our aggressive revenue targets while maintaining very strong NPS scores. To help us scale and keep up with our customer and product demands, we're hiring our first engineering manager in San Francisco.

In this critical role, you'll take on the leadership of our engineering team, help develop our engineering culture and values, and define (and launch) our strategy and process for hiring engineers.

We started Vanta in 2017 as Equifax had lost every American’s social security number, Home Depot had leaked its customers’ credit card numbers to hackers, and Facebook admitted that it irresponsibly sent user data to third parties who tried to influence the US election.

It was clear that security and privacy had become mainstream issues, and that we all increasingly relied on cloud services to store everything from our personal photos to our communications at work.

Vanta’s mission is to be the layer of trust on top of these services, and to secure the internet, increase trust in software companies, and keep consumer data safe.

We do this by building an automated head of security for technology companies, and we use that system to both help a company secure itself and to prove their security to others.

If we succeed in our mission, it should feel irresponsible for users to put data into a product that isn’t certified by Vanta, and irresponsible for companies to collect data without using Vanta to secure and monitor themselves.

The Role

You will…
  • Manage and mentor our growing team of high-performing engineers, empowering them to effectively navigate through challenges and contribute to world-class engineering at Vanta.
  • Continue building our team by hiring talented, diverse, and intellectually curious engineers, and designing an inclusive organization representing our culture and values.
  • Take ownership of the technical processes and ecosystems needed for engineering projects to run smoothly, successfully, and at scale.
  • Advocate for our engineering team to ensure alignment between engineering and business priorities.
You have…
  • Managed an engineering team before, ideally through times of high-growth, and are both a trusted leader and confident mentor.
  • A successful track record of hiring and recruiting for your teams, and can help design a well-crafted engineering recruiting process, with diversity, inclusion, and long-term growth in mind.
  • Experience leading technically complex, cross-functional engineering projects
