Imagine a security tool that’s been adopted by hundreds of companies through word of mouth. As our first product marketer at Vanta, you’ll shape how we reach and interact with our customers by creating inspiring and compelling campaigns, resources, and experiences that demonstrate how Vanta can help businesses. To do this, you’ll need to work cross-functionally across sales, customer success, product, and design, and you’ll move between strategy and execution.

We started Vanta in 2017 as Equifax had lost every American’s social security number, Home Depot had leaked its customers’ credit card numbers to hackers, and Facebook admitted that it irresponsibly sent user data to third parties who tried to influence the US election.

It was clear that security and privacy had become mainstream issues, and that we all increasingly relied on cloud services to store everything from our personal photos to our communications at work.

Vanta’s mission is to be the layer of trust on top of these services, and to secure the internet, increase trust in software companies, and keep consumer data safe.

We do this by building an automated head of security for technology companies, and we use that system to both help a company secure itself and to prove their security to others.

If we succeed in our mission, it should feel irresponsible for users to put data into a product that isn’t certified by Vanta, and irresponsible for companies to collect data without using Vanta to secure and monitor themselves.

The Role

You will…
  • Talk regularly with our users, analyze your own data, and understand our competitive landscape to inform your work (overall marketing strategy, content, messaging, and positioning) and help shape the product strategy and roadmap
  • Work closely with nearly every team at Vanta—product management, sales, design, customer success, and engineering—to define our customer segments and deliver effective communications, from everyday emails to major launches
  • Plan and execute large product launches, report back on their performance, and optimize these processes for scale
  • Create focused campaigns that engage, nurture, and help our users succeed, from onboarding through to their achieving and celebrating their business goals with Vanta
  • Scale our customer advocacy program. You’ll build relationships with our customers and oversee and manage the processes of finding, vetting, and developing advocates amongst them
  • Identify customers who stories we should bring to life, and project manage our doing that via writing (e.g. emails, blog posts, and case studies), video, and events
  • Share experience and insights across Vanta to help us better understand our customers
  • Be foundational in building Marketing at Vanta
You might…
  • Have meaningful experience and success in marketing and launching early-stage products (particularly B2B products)
  • Have the organization and process-building chops to figure out how to replicate the success you've had at Vanta
  • Tell stories in your spare time – fiction, blog posts, email missives, Instagrams, what-have-you
  • Have a deep empathy for users and an ability to adapt communication to best reach, engage and differentiate Vanta to your audience
  • Enjoy working with data and pairing those quantitative conclusions with the qualitative conversations you have with users
  • Find delight in understanding how things work and then explaining your newfound knowledge to others
  • Be interested in mentoring and guiding other Marketing team members as the team grows at Vanta
